Skin
Care Is A Important Part Of
Appearance!
When
you hear the term skin care products, what comes to mind?
Usually we think of products that treat just the skin on
our face. But in reality, there are literally thousands
of items on the market that treat the skin on our entire
body. There is a product for just about every conceivable
use. There are products that treat acne, reduce wrinkles,
shrink our pore size, give us a healthy tan and even
reduce the amount of hair we grow. Even though the
industry has been gaining recognition lately by all the
star power behind it, it’s not like it’s a new market.
Men and Women have been using skin care products to help
care for their skin for
centuries.
Just
look at any vintage Sears & Roebuck Catalog. The
items to care for your skin were found right along with
the tonics and elixirs to cure what ails you. In the
earlier time of skin care industry, products were made
from ingredients we would find questionable today. Some
face creams were made of Pigeon excrement, or parts of a
turtle. These ingredients made the product seem exotic
back then but would make them illegal today. Now most
products are formulated in labs based on years of
testing.
Today’s
consumer has the opportunity to do product research over
the internet. You can compare thousands of items in a
matter of minutes. Most every product made has a website
that gives you ingredients in the products, directions
for use and even free
samples.
Even
though skin care products have been around for centuries, a lot
has changed. At one time only royalty and the rich elite had
access to skin care products. They were considered a luxury
item, not for the common man. Now everyone has access to
products. You can find items in your local dollar store or your
high priced department store. You can even find skin care
products in your grocery store.
The only
limit is the amount of money you want to spend. Every magazine
you look in has a celebrity endorsing some type of product
promising to change whatever you don’t like about yourself.
Luckily for the consumer there are regulations in place that
prevent the product from advertising results it can’t deliver
or products that could have dangerous results or side effects.
When looking for a skin care product you have to be realistic,
don’t expect miracles, and do your
research.
